Book Real (Lost Red Wolves Book 2) Review :

As much as I loved this book, I'm struggling with how to talk about it. This book dives into a part of this world/ universe that has been alluded to in many of the previous books but for the first time, we're actually seeing it. I don't want to spoil that for anyone. It's an experience, this book. A wild existential ride for sure.As with any of her other books, this book has a beautiful love story with strong multi-dimensional characters. I really loved H and Buddy together, they were so lovely. My heart was aching for Bubby and H is the sweet cinnamon roll of an alpha (that needs to be a thing). I really enjoyed seeing them grow together while still becoming their own person. I also really loved all the references. And I'm not just talking about the one pertaining to a certain Gothic novel I have a deep affection for. This book is more of an exciting thrill ride than it is a swoony fluffy romance. It is still very much a romance with plenty of sweet and sexy (very, VERY sexy) moments but expect more of a plot-heavy story. Fear not, the relationship doesn't happen because of the plot, but through it. It's a heartfelt romance that is different and exciting. I really enjoyed this book and while you should probably read the first book before diving into this one, it's definitely worth your time and coin. Five stars because who knew I would be into smutty Pinocchio retellings. Or Candlewick. Seriously, why was he hot? We better get his story next.
Wow! This book just totally blew me away! Only Amy Bellows can write a story about a plastic sex doll brought to life and infuse so much heartfelt emotion and passion and adventure. Although the premise of the story seems almost amusing - a sex doll that's alive - this book is so much more. It's about resilience and strength in the shadow of terrible circumstances and pain. It's about accepting yourself, flaws and all, and realizing that not all flaws are actually "flaws". It's about the inherent drive in every living being for love and comfort and sometimes you have to look outside the box. It's about societal perceptions of " normal " and seeing beyond those. Buddy is the sweetest, most tragic protagonist but he shines with hope - even when he can't believe he's worthy. H (or Timothy) is the opposite of the stereotypical Alpha - soft and compassion rather than hard - but he's the perfect match for Buddy in every way. This book has so many layers that it's impossible to list them all here. Just trust me when I say that this is a story that will stay with you long after the last page has been turned. I would highly recommend reading the first book, Expensive, as it sets up some of the background information and characters. It's also an outstanding book in its own right. I wish you could give this more than 5* stars because it is seriously that amazing.
